Introduction
In this lesson you learned about how to use your best judgment. Judgment is an important character trait. It means being able to think through decisions in a calm and clear manner. Why do you think judgment is important in helping us achieve our goals? What might be some ways to improve at having good judgment?

Critical Thinking
Consider the following situation on your own again: You are sitting in a mall hanging out when you see someone that you don’t know well but have always admired. He comes up to you and tells you he’s trying to find a new shirt for a date that weekend. He asks you if you’ll go with him to a store you like. You’re flattered that he’s asked you to go, and readily agree. As you go into the store, he is greeted by name, you’re impressed. As he starts flipping through some shirts, you notice that he’s slipped one off the hanger, and you assume he wants to buy it. As you begin to ask him if he’s found what he wants, you notice he’s stealthily slipped it into a shopping bag he’s carrying. You glance nervously at the clerk who said, “Hello” and see that she’s speaking with another person. You think that maybe that’s a lucky thing. Then the man she was speaking with begins to move toward the two of you, as he continues to look directly at you. What could happen next? What would be your gut instinct?
What do you do? Try to think of a few different things you could do (positive, negative, and neutral). What might the results of your actions be?

Collaboration
For a small group, each student presents their ideas to the whole class. Provide opportunity for positive feedback from peers or support if they are struggling to think of ideas.
For a larger group, divide students into small groups and have students present their ideas to the small group. Provide opportunity for positive feedback from peers or support if they are struggling to think of ideas.

Application
Review your SMART goal and think about this upcoming week. How might you use good judgment? What actions will you take? What might the results of your actions be?
