Introduction
As a leader, you should support your team working as a team. Your team should be trained, taught, challenged, tested, corrected, and encouraged with perfection and teamwork as a goal. Train with a purpose and emphasize the essential element of teamwork.
How might working as a team help you achieve your goals?
How might you work better on a team this week?

Critical Thinking
Consider the following situation on your own:Before a game, you hear rumors there are college recruiters in the crowd. You feel like there is extra pressure on your team’s performance tonight. You mention this to your team and encourage everyone to play as a team the way you have been practicing. One of your teammates states that no one should play as a team because tonight everyone is really competing against everyone on the team to stand out in front of the recruiter.
What do you do? Try to think of a few different things you could do (positive, negative, and neutral). What might the results of your actions be?
-
Collaboration
For a small group, each student presents their ideas to the whole class. Provide opportunity for positive feedback from peers or support if they are struggling to think of ideas.
For a larger group, divide students into small groups and have students present their ideas to the small group. Provide opportunity for positive feedback from peers or support if they are struggling to think of ideas.

Application
Review your SMART goal and think about this upcoming week. How might you work better with others to help you achieve your goal? What actions will you take? What might the results of your actions be?
