Introduction
Having tact can be easy in relaxed situations. However, tact can be more difficult in challenging situations with a lot of emotions. Giving and getting corrective feedback can be challenging for some people but it’s part of school, working, family, and even friendships. Why is it important to have tact in stressful situations?

Critical Thinking
Consider the following situation on your own: You work after school at a local movie theater. Your supervisor calls you into their office at the beginning of the shift to let you know you aren’t cleaning the theaters fully after the movies. If you don’t start cleaning them properly, you are going to be fired.
What do you do? Try to think of a few different things you could do (positive, negative, and neutral). What might the results of your actions be?
-
Collaboration
For a small group, each student presents their ideas to the whole class. Provide opportunity for positive feedback from peers or support if they are struggling to think of ideas.
For a larger group, divide students into small groups and have students present their ideas to the small group. Provide opportunity for positive feedback from peers or support if they are struggling to think of ideas.
