Introduction
In this lesson, you learned about strengthening your brain and mind similarly to how you strengthen your body. When you train your brain to control your actions and reactions you build a mental reserve, just like you can build your physical muscles with physical activities. The brain is one of the most changeable parts of the body, you can learn to strengthen it, control it, and improve it so that it functions at a performance level that will serve you well regardless of the circumstances. What might be some ways to strengthen your brain?

Critical Thinking
Consider the following situation on your own: You are taking a class and finding it very difficult. One of your friends shares the answers to an upcoming test with you.
What do you do? Try to think of a few different things you could do (positive, negative, and neutral). What might the results of your actions be?
-
Collaboration
For a small group, each student presents their ideas to the whole class. Provide opportunity for positive feedback from peers or support if they are struggling to think of ideas.
For a larger group, divide students into small groups and have students present their ideas to the small group. Provide opportunity for positive feedback from peers or support if they are struggling to think of ideas.
-
Application
Think of a realistic goal you can accomplish this year. What would you like to accomplish this year? Why is this important to you? How will you know you’ve reached your goal?
